Technology Highlights

                                                                                         FEATURED TECHNOLOGIES

We have access to experts in these traditional and emerging renewable energy technologies.    We emphasize systems that are made-in-America whenever possible or that are available at the shortest distance from your site to minimize transportation costs.

                                   Small-Wind Turbines

American Wind Energy Association defines Wind Turbines from 5 kW to 100 kW as "SMALL".

Most are available on towers that do not exceed the height restrictions in most jurisdictions.  However, every site needs an aptitude analysis to help you determine if a wind energy system is your best investment.

We work with experienced and reliable small wind turbine sales, installation and service experts serving Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Wind turbine brands are available at various prices.  Grants from Maryland Energy Administration are available, and are specific to the power/effectiveness rating of the various turbine manufacturers.

Featured Turbine -- Made in America
American Classic Wind Power(tm), the wind turbine exclusively available through Potomac Wind Energy (Maryland), based on the traditional design of the Aermotor(r) windmill.  Ideal for rural landscapes.

                               Thermal Solar Energy Systems

In most households, 1/3 of the energy used is related to heating your hot water.  This is an often overlooked place to obtain a rather fast return on your investment, especially as energy costs continue to rise.   And especially after you've begun to conserve your water demand with low-flow shower heads and Energy Star appliances.

It's important to note that "Thermal Solar" systems are especially designed to heat water.  This is in contrast with "PV" or photovoltaic solar panels that are designed to produce electricity and thereby reduce your electric costs.

Thermal Solar Systems come in three varieties:
(a) Evacuated Tube
(b) Flat Plate
(c) "Bladder" systems (for pools, camps and boats)

Generally Thermal Solar Systems are less expensive than "PV" Systems. Thermal Solar Systems may have much lower initial costs versus PV solar systems.  "Payback" periods are often less than 5 years (depending on your energy costs).

Evacuated Tube and Flat Plate Systems are used successfully for large scale applications such as institutional customers (dormitories, nursing homes, prisons), dairy operations, restaurants, banquet and dining halls, food producers, car washes and industrial businesses needing hot water.

However, Evacuated Tube systems are more suitable in certain locations and environments.

Evacuated Tube and Flat Plate Collector Systems, beginning JUNE 1 in Maryland, will share the pool of funds called "S-RECS", an additional incentive available to buyers of solar systems.  Administrative rules supporting the new law are in process.   The "bladder" systems are not entitled to "S-RECS".

USDA -REAP Grants -- available for Evacuated Tube and Flat Plate Thermal Solar Technologies.

                                            CUTTING-EDGE, EMERGING APPLICATIONS

Evacuate Tube Thermal Solar Systems are being integrated into Combined Heat, Cold and Power generation systems. (CHCP).
